Reciprocity Failure Calculator
When exposures exceed one second, Kodak ColorPlus 200 requires additional time to compensate for reciprocity failure. Note that color negative films generally have less published reciprocity data than B&W films.
Push & Pull Processing
Kodak ColorPlus 200 is designed to be shot at box speed. As a consumer film, it is not intended for push or pull processing. Best results come from accurate exposure at ISO 200 in daylight or well-lit conditions.
| Rating | Effective ISO | Stops | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pull −2 | 50 | −2 | Very soft, flat — not commonly done |
| Pull −1 | 100 | −1 | Slightly warmer, smoother tones |
| Box Speed | 200 | 0 | Normal development |
| Push +1 | 400 | +1 | Noticeable grain increase, slightly punchier |
| Push +2 | 800 | +2 | Heavy grain, not recommended |
| Push +3 | 1600 | +3 | Extreme grain — not suitable for this emulsion |
Character & Personality
Grain
Fine for a consumer film, with a PGI of approximately 44, comparable to Kodak Gold 200. At standard 4x6 print sizes, grain is not visible. At larger sizes or in crops, grain becomes apparent but retains a pleasant, organic quality. The grain structure contributes to the classic analog feel that makes consumer Kodak films so popular.
Exposure Latitude
Good — handles 2 stops of underexposure to 3 stops of overexposure. Similar to Gold 200 in its forgiving nature. The wide latitude makes it well-suited for cameras with less precise metering systems, including disposable and basic point-and-shoot cameras. This forgiving nature makes it an excellent choice for first-time film shooters.
Color Palette
Warm color cast with a yellow/golden bias, similar to Gold 200. Bright, saturated colors in daylight with deep blue skies and warm skin tones. The film renders with good color saturation and a slight warm shift through almost every frame. It is essentially in the same color family as Kodak Gold but positioned as the budget alternative. There is ongoing debate about whether ColorPlus 200 and Gold 200 use the same emulsion in different packaging.
